New Delhi: Effigy burning of Prime Minister Narinder Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah on the occasion of Dussehra festival may soon reach the doorsteps of Delhi Police. Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP)- a student wing of BJP is planning to contact the South Delhi police and lodged an official complaint about hurting the religious sentiments.

A student union leader, on the request of anonymity, said parties top leadership had earlier restrained us on Tuesday incident. In the current scenario, we are told to wait for the final call. Soon final decision on the effigy burning incident be taken.

BJP is on the high since Paratroopers of Indian Army did surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to taking the revenge of Uri attack. Narinder Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar are encashing the strikes in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election.

Political analysts also believe that unlike February incident when BJP was in the back-foot over chanting of anti-national slogans, this time, Party may try to make the most of it. Registering a FIR against those who burn the effigy of Prime Minister would lead to another round of political storm in the country, that would help the party.

While Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Hafeez Saeed were the themes of Ravana effigy across the country on the Dussehra festival this year, Congress-affiliated National Student Union of India (NSUI) chosen to burn the effigy of Narinder Modi and Amit shah, representing them as a demon king. Besides them, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Sadhvi Pragya, Nathuram Godse, Asaram Bapu along with JNU vice-chancellor Jagadesh Kumar was also targeted by the students.

NSUI justified the effigy burning act as a protest against Modi Government’s alleged continuous attacks on educational institutions across the country and failed in keeping the promises to people.

University administration has tight-lipped on the issue. When contacted, it said the matter was reported in some sections of the newspaper. effigy burning of Prime Minister will be investigate it at our level first. It is stated that effigy burning of the Gujarat government was also reported last week in the campus and administration ordered the proctorial inquiry into the matter.
